Giveaway: S’Mores Basket

Submitted by on August 20, 2010 – 4:56 pm3 Comments

If you read our “10 Best Places to Get Your Marshmallow On” story earlier in the week, you may have S’mores on the brain. Er, in your stomach? A perfect non-perishable camping dessert, S’mores are easy to assemble, easy to pack, and fun to make. Thank goodness Hershey’s, Honey Maid, and Kraft have partnered together for this summer-fun giveaway.

Here’s the scoop: You can win a S’mores kit including all the classic S’mores ingredients—Hershey®’s Milk Chocolate bars, crispy Honey Maid® Graham Crackers and Kraft Jet-Puffed® Marshmallows—and a branded skewers set!

If you want in on the campfire action*, simply like the Road Trips For Families Facebook page and leave a comment here with a favorite round-the-fire memory or S’more making tip. For me, it’s listening to Grandpa play his harmonica while the kids analyze the fire for the perfect roasting spot.

* Open to U.S. Residents only. Contest ends at midnight on August 31, 2010. Road Trips for Families received S’mores ingredients in the mail as part of this giveaway. We already love S’mores, so today we practiced making gingerbread houses instead. This post brought to you by the letter “f,” for fun!

I already follow you! Love your trips. MY favorite moments are having s’mores with my grandsons on any of our camping trips. They get SOOOO excited and keep asking “When can be build the fire?”. They eat s’mores then keep roasting marshmallows and eating them. At the end of the evening they are covered with chocolate and marshmallow goo. I have lots of pictures of them with big grins.

Excellent! My favorite moment is watching my cousin catch a marshmellow on fire and then started waving the roasting stick it like mad to put it out. It sent all of us screaming away from fire thinking the fireball was about to attack!

    Favortie S’mores memory?
Definitely fall retreats at the camp where I met my husband. Crisp autumn weather, one huge bonfire (my now-husband is an engineer and it is his life goal to build the biggest fire – which has to be beat every year, of course), one ampitheater style campfire area, and about a hundred high school kids singing worship songs. After that wonderful cozy experience…the chaos starts with S’mores time! Bring out the metal hangers, dozens of boxes of graham crackers, a few cases of Hershey’s bars, and countless bags of giant marshmellows…what you are left with is a group of friends on a sugar high with sticky fingers and smiles on their faces. Chubby bunny contests break out (seeing who can get the most marshmellows in their mouths and still say ‘chubby bunny’) and laughter echoes through the forest. Then the kids sneak the few chocolate bars that are left to take back to the cabin to have as a ‘midnight snack’ and it’s off to bed (well, to the cabin…it will be hours before they actually doze off). Those are the nights that stay with you forever.
