Guest Post: Fit for Fun Wellness Program on Muscle Beach

Submitted by on February 17, 2012 – 6:00 amNo Comment

This spring break and summer, families visiting Santa Monica, California will can experience the original Muscle Beach with Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel’s new Fit for Fun wellness program. Blending outdoor activities with a balanced diet of regional, healthy food, the program has something for all ages and activity levels.  Excited about the potential of the program to catch on nationwide—not to mention the current Spring Break Lodging package (where kids eat free – yippee!)—we asked the hotel a few questions:

Tell us a bit more about how families can participate in the Fit for Fun Wellness Program on a family vacation?

We’re heading outdoors and exploring all that Santa Monica has to offer with this program!  Families can enjoy a variety of wellness activities, such as yoga, Farmers’ Market tours, guided hikes through the Santa Monica Mountains, “rings & swings” playtime on Muscle Beach and much more. Best of all, activities can be customized to meet each family’s fitness level.

How did you come up with the different activities?

Santa Monica is the birthplace of physical fitness. We wanted to create a program that would allow families to experience one of Santa Monica’s iconic attractions (Muscle Beach) while staying active, healthy, and most importantly, while having fun.

What types of stops do you make on the culinary tour?

During spring break and summer, families can join one of our Chefs for a tour of the world-famous Santa Monica Farmers’ Market. We explore what’s fresh that day, including a rich bounty of vegetables, baskets of freshly cut flowers, live music, breads and cheeses.

On the subject of food, we noticed kids 12 and under can eat for free with the “Spring Break” package. Is this anything on the menu?

Yes! Anything on the children’s menus at our Ocean & Vine and Blue Streak restaurants. Samples include grilled chicken with steamed vegetables, baked mac and cheese, housemade pizza and other children’s favorites.

What do kids say about the Fit for Fun Wellness Program. We love their point of view.

The program launches this spring break, but we’ve already heard this is “very cool!”
