A road trip or family vacation is generally accompanied by a lengthy list of essential items to pack. You have those staples, like clothes or phones, you truly can’t go without. Some may feel less necessary to bring, but you’ll be happy you did when the time comes. Among that second group of items is a first aid kit. Especially when traveling with kids, anything from a Band-Aid to ease a minor boo-boo to ointments and tweezers may suddenly become a necessity. Sure, you could throw your home kit into the luggage, compile some medical resources yourself… or you could keep things simple with something like Keep Going’s First Aid GoKit.
Keep Going First Aid has a number of different first-aid kits suiting specific settings and scenarios. The SuperKit is 270 pieces and suggested for homes, cars, dorms, cabins, RVs, or boats. On the other end of the spectrum, there’s the “Loaded” MiniKit with 60 pieces easy to clip onto a purse or backpack. We got our hands on the First Aid GoKit. As the name suggests, there’s no doubt it’s made for travel.
About the First Aid GoKit
With an incredibly compact size (6.75″ long, 5″ wide, and 2″ deep), the GoKit miraculously fits 130 total pieces ranging from various bandages, gauzes, medical tape, and Ibuprofen to more specialized items like a finger splint, tick removers, and nosebleed plugs. The kit is TSA approved, has two sleeves for organizing, and is water and stain resistant. It also includes a wrist strap to easily carry or clip and enough space to include other small, must-have items.
The amount of designs available feels almost dizzying. The Family GoKits are ideal if you have younger children, including stickers and colorful bandages with fun case graphics. You’ll also find the Adult GoKits, which forego the stickers with plain bandages and more subtle case designs.
When you get your hands on the GoKit, it really hits you just how much they pack inside. It feels perfect to pack in your luggage, throw in your car, or take along for a hike. While Keep Going suggests the SuperKit for dorms, sending the GoKit with your kid to college wouldn’t be a bad option either. If you see an appeal in multiple kits for different uses, they also offer a bundle of all three kits.
The GoKit definitely feels like a solid middle ground, though. On top of everything, Keep Going sells refills for the family and adult GoKits, so it feels well worth the $39.99 price as a long-term resource.
Our Verdict
While this aptly named GoKit won’t replace your home first-aid essentials, it feels like a no-brainer to carry out and about. It’s small and densely packed, so it doesn’t take up much space while managing to cover most of what you may need in a pinch. The cases themselves are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and high quality, allowing you to keep it around for years of use. Acting as a portable first-aid option when you need it, the First Aid GoKit feels like a must-have for both traveling families and anyone who could benefit from some extra preparedness away from home.
